Work Plans
Many in Cotuit are concerned about the safety of walkers, bicyclers, and joggers, particularly children. At the request of the Cotuit Civic Association the Planning and Development Department has engaged the community in several discussions about these concerns and potential solutions.
With the benefit of energetic participation from Cotuit residents at several meetings the concerns fell into two phases for study and implementation. Focusing first on pedestrian safety issues near the Village core, two Main Street intersection were studied - Oceanview and School Street – the Intersection of School Street and High Street is also now included. Concept plans to address the safety issues at Oceanview and School Street were developed for both short and long term implementation. Refinements to these concepts and the inclusion of the School Street, Piney Road, Highland Road intersection were suggested by Cotuit residents which will be posted to this page.
Phase two for Cotuit pedestrian safety improvements will focus on a pedestrian connection traveling from Main Street up Putnam Avenue to Falmouth Road. Visioning for phase two will begin in September 2015 with the Cotuit Civic Association.
As new materials become available they will be posted to this page. Please stay tuned!
